Unlike the hustle and bustle of the city, some places in nature ask nothing from us. They do not ask us to perform, to prove ourselves, to hurry, or to carry the weight of the world for a moment longer. They simply invite us to be. Whispering Aspens, part of my Returning to Ourselves collection, was created from that feeling, the deep exhale that happens when we step into the woods and finally hear ourselves think again.

An invitation for you to sit down, ground yourself to the earth, surrounded by aspens softly swaying in conversation with the wind. In many ways, the forest becomes a storyteller here. The trees whisper reminders we often forget in the noise of everyday life: slow down, rest, pay attention, breathe deeper. Nature has always known how to hold us gently and remind us that a return to self is often a return to the earth.

Like much of my work, this painting lives in the space between healing and remembering. It speaks to the ache so many of us carry from being disconnected from nature, from silence, from our bodies, from joy. The aspens stand tall together, their connection lies beneath the surface, reminding us that healing does not always happen loudly, or quickly. Sometimes it happens quietly, slowly, beneath, in moments of stillness where we finally allow ourselves to listen.

Whispering Aspens is an invitation to come back to yourself slowly. To sit with the silence long enough to hear what your spirit has been trying to say all along.
